Helicopters used for Air Rescue:

EC 135 T2 – this A category helicopter which fully meets international regulations JAR OPS and EU regulations for HEMS operation, was manufactured by Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH. It is light twin-engine helicopter powered by two powerful Arrius 2B2 engines and has four-bladed rotor, fenestron system and landing gear with two skids. Helicopters are commonly capable of transporting one or two laying patients, two health care providers and two pilots. Since the beginning of 2005 DSA operates 3 helicopters of this type at all its HEMS bases.

EC 135 T1 – this A category helicopter is ideal for air rescue service. It was manufactured by Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH. This aircraft has safety features such as enclosed tailrotor, crush attenuated seats, and start up/shut down times of less than a minute which eliminate the need for hot loads/unloads. The aircraft cruises at approximately 150 -160 kts. EC-135 is capable of transporting one patient, two members of medical crew and 2 pilots. DSA owns one helicopter of this type.

EC 135 T2+ –  this A category helicopter  which fully meets international regulations JAR OPS and EU regulations for HEMS operation, was manufactured by Eurocopter Deutschland GmbH. It is light twin-engine helicopter powered by two powerful Arrius 2B2 engines and has four- bladed rotor, fenestron system and landing gear with two skids. Helicopters are commonly capable of transporting one laying patient. Crew consists of one pilot and up to three medical or rescue personnel. It is more modern type of T2 type with more powerful engines and avionic. DSA a.s. has put this helicopter in operation in August 2009 and is based in HEMS Ostrava.
