12th August 2009 / OK-DSE was ceremoniously put in operation

The new helicopter of Air Rescue Base in Ostrava was ceremoniously put in operation in the presence of the leaders of Moravskoslezsky region, Regional Authority and Ostrava town, representatives of helicopter’s operator – company DSA a.s., the head employers of Integrated emergency system and many other visitors who are in relation with Air Rescue Service on 11th August 2009. In the hangar of ARS Ostrava was also a press conference with presence of many journalists and other media. MUDr. Roman Gřegoř who is the director of Regional centre of emergency service of Moravskoslezsky region was talking about the history and important facts of the present services. Mr. Daniel Tuček who is the deputy of the Chairmen in DSA a.s. and the executive pilot was giving a speech about the new helicopter EC 135 T2+ and its advantages.

The present helicopter is already a sixth type in a row which is being used at Air Rescue Base in Ostrava. Until now there were used: Mi-2, Bell 206 LIII, AS 355 F2 Ecureuil, EC 135 T2. The main differences between the present type EC 135 T2+ and the previous type EC 135 T2 is avionic equipment. The previous type was equipped by the classic devices in compare to the new one with Full Glass Cockpit where all the functions are displayed on multifunctional displays. The helicopter is also equipped by three-channel autopilot and its interior is fully compatible for flights with use of infra-red glasses (called NWG). It also has new type of medical equipment which permits more ergonomic manipulation with the patient. EC 135 is light multipurpose twin-engine helicopter falling into lightweight category not exceeding 3 tons. If one of the engine stops operating the helicopter is able to continue in the flight and finish the mission. Helicopter is certified for operation in night with one pilot. The crew is pilot, doctor and rescuer. In the medical version it enables transport up to two patients at once.

Together with the ceremonial handing over there was celebration of twentieth anniversary since beginning of operation of Air Rescue Base in Ostrava. Crews have absolved more than 12 000 mission during the day and night time. The helicopters have flown almost 11,5 thousand hours.
