PROFESSIONAL HELICOPTER PILOT TRAINING

Modular training program
The modular training program allows you to gradually complete the training courses and obtain partial flight ratings. Upon passing the training courses to obtain a Private pilot licence, Rating for night flights and a Commercial pilot licence, a pilot is privileged to act as the Pilot in Command or Co-pilot in all helicopters for non-commercial purposes, as the Pilot in Command in all single-engine helicopters for commercial air transport and as the Co-pilot in all helicopters in commercial air transport. Also, a pilot who has already completed previous modules at another flight school can apply to have them transferred.

Light aircraft pilot LAPL(H)

This pilot licence is mainly suitable for those who are interested in leisure flying. An LAPL licence holder for helicopters can act as the Pilot in Command in single-engine helicopters with a maximum certified take-off mass of 2 000 kg or lower and shall carry a maximum of three passengers, so the total number on the board is four persons at most.

Entrance requirements:

  1. At least 17 years for obtaining the pilot licence
  2. LAPL medical certificate or higher

Private pilot PPL(H)

Private helicopter pilot licence is the first step towards the career of a professional pilot in a rotorcraft. It entitles a holder to act as the Pilot in Command of the aircraft or as the Co-pilot, but only for non-commercial transport. A holder is therefore privileged to transport passengers, goods etc., however they are not allowed to carry it for consideration.

Entrance requirements:

  1. At least 17 years of age when obtaining the pilot licence
  2. Class 2 medical certificate or higher

Rating for night flights NIGHT(H)

This rating enables a holder to carry out flights at night in VFR conditions. The training emphasises specific conditions which a pilot, flying at night, will be exposed to.

Entrance requirements:
      1. Private pilot licence PPL(H)
      2. Class 2 medical certificate or higher

  1. After PPL (H) issuance 100h as a pilot (H), 60h as the Pilot in Command and 20h navigation flights hereof

Commercial pilot CPL(H)

A holder of this licence can carry out all the same rights as a holder of an LAPL(H) and PPL(H) licences and act as the Pilot in Command or the CPL in all helicopters in non-commercial transport and act as the Pilot in Command in all single-pilot helicopters in commercial air transport and as the Co-pilot in all helicopters in commercial air transport.

Entrance requirements:

  1. At least 18 years of age when obtaining the licence
  2. Class 1 medical certificate
  3. Private pilot licence PPL(H)
  4. At least 155 flight hours as the helicopter pilot prior to the course beginning.

Flight instructor FI(H)

A holder of the flight instructor licence can provide the training for obtaining a PPL(H) licence and type ratings for single-engine helicopters within the limits of their licence. A candidate's knowledge and abilities have to be of a high level and will be checked during an entrance flight exam prior to the course beginning. Their teaching ability will also be tested. A flight instructor can expand their instructor licence upon completion of certain conditions so that he could provide further types of training (NIGHT(H), CPL(H), etc.)

Entrance requirements:

  1. Completion of 250 hours in total as a helicopter pilot, hereof:
    1. at least 100 hours as the Pilot in Command of aircraft, provided he is a holder at least CPL(H) licence or
    2. at least 200 hours as the Pilot in Command of aircraft provided a candidate is a holder at least PPL(H) licence and meets the theoretical knowledge requirements for obtaining a CPL licence

Type rating instructor TRI(H)

A type rating instructor can provide training for issuing, revalidation and renewal of type ratings for helicopters.

Entrance requirements:

  1. TRI(H) for single-pilot single-engine helicopters to complete 250 hours as a helicopter pilot;
  2. TRI(H) for single-pilot multi-engine helicopters to complete 500 hours as a helicopter pilot, including 100 hours as the Pilot in Command in single-pilot multi-engine helicopters
  3. TRI(H) for multi-engine helicopters to complete 1 000 hours as a helicopter pilot, which comprise of:
    1. 350 hours as a pilot of multi-pilot helicopters or
    2. for candidates who are already holders of a TRI(H) licence for single-pilot multi-engine helicopters to complete 100 hours as a pilot of such a type in multi-pilot operation.

Type training for single-engine piston helicopters (Schweizer 269C, Enstrom 280FX)

This allows a licensed graduate to pilot the selected type of single-engine piston helicopter.

Type training for single-engine turbine helicopters (Enstrom 480B, EC 120 Colibri, AS 350 B3e)

This allows a licensed graduate to pilot the selected type of single-engine turbine helicopter.

Type training for multi-engine turbine helicopters (AS 355N, EC 135 T1, EC 135 T2, EC 135T2+)

This allows a licensed graduate to pilot the selected type of multi-engine turbine helicopter.

Entrance requirements:

  • prior to commencement of the flight training:
    1. passing of theoretical exams for obtaining an ATPL(H) licence or
    2. to hold a certificate of successful completion of pre-entrance course organized by an approved training organization
  • candidates who did not take part in the integrated training course to obtain an ATP(H)/IR, ATP(H) or CPL(H)/IR licence must complete at least 70 hours as the Pilot in Command in a helicopter.
